The Art
Department
of
Martynas Mažvydas National Library of Lithuania preserves documents related with all fields of professional art and
folk art, architecture, design, art philosophy and criticism, the
history, theory and methodology of art, etc.
The Art Department functions as an information center in these fields. Organizes exhibitions of art creations and art publications. Compiles bibliographies of art, prepare methodological articles, reviews on exhibition arrangement, art information management. The collection of the Art Department comprises 322 500 art documents in Lithuanian and in foreign languages. Among them there are ~120.000 books and albums (~62. 000 titles), 520 titles of periodicals, ~ 260.000 single items such as graphis sheets, posters, postcards, ect.
